Description

Offering mental health services for individuals: youth (aged 14+) and adults. I also see couples.

About Me:

My experience is broad and includes working with youth, adults and families at a number of agencies including: Distress Centre Calgary, Beacon Community Services (Victoria, BC), Catholic Family Service, post-secondary mental health clinics, the South Calgary Primary Care Network, as well as in my private practice.

In addition to working with clients one-on-one and in groups, I have developed and facilitated workshops and presentations on personality type and interests, anxiety, and self-compassion. In 2014, I presented my research on Self-Compassion at the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Associations National Conference.

From 2015 to 2018 I developed and facilitated programming for a local agency specifically addressing the needs of young fathers. This evidence-based program is at its core a primary prevention strategy for intimate partner violence.

From 2019-2021 I worked as part of an interdisciplinary team for the South Calgary Primary Care Network.

Currently I have moved from 7+ years of part time private practice to full time. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

HOW DO I WORK...

The two key factors that impact sustainable change in therapy are: 1) the therapeutic relationship; and 2) the type of therapy we engage in together.

There exist a wide range of therapies psychologists may choose from in their practice. My experience has shown me that the ability to integrate different therapies (e.g. Psychodynamic, Interpersonal Process, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy) allows me to tailor our work to your specific needs. By remaining flexible in how I work, you wont feel pressured to adhere to a particular therapy, but instead, you will discover things about yourself in a way that is natural for you.

Lastly, while awareness of our patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving is a crucial starting point for sustainable change, I think it is important to include practical ways in which you might apply what we discuss in therapy to your daily life. For this reason, I will offer specific practices (e.g. Mindfulness Techniques) for you to put into action when you feel ready to make the shifts necessary to create a better life at home and at work.
