Description

Supporting parents from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.

Motherhood is an exciting and transformative experience and it can also be extremely challenging and at times overwhelming and even painful. At MamaCare, we support you every step of the way. We provide compassionate, evidence-based care to help you to feel better fast, so that you can feel more present with your little ones and even enjoy the journey. We also provide parenting support and support for couples.

Meet our team:

Aliza Shupac, Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist, Certified EMDR Therapist

I have over a decade of providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, children and families and have advanced training through Postpartum Support International. I love what I do.

I am also the mother of two young children. During my own journey into motherhood, I struggled to find the support that I was looking for as an expectant and new parent and that experience set me on a mission. I set up the practice that I would have wanted and focus on supporting other women through the experience of motherhood.

Mothers were not meant to do this alone.

My goal is to help you feel supported, make sense and manage any confusing or disturbing thoughts and feelings, support you to strengthen your existing relationships, build your support network and your confidence.

I also support parents by offering concrete parenting strategies based on my training in Positive Parenting Solutions as well as Dr. Gordon Neufeld’s attachment-based developmental approach to parenting.

Sessions are offered in office, home visits, or by video.

I want to help you to not just survive but to thrive in your new role. Therapy helps.

Please reach out with any questions you may have, to schedule a complimentary consultation or to schedule your first session.

Lisa Barnwell MSW, RSW/Psychotherapist

I bring almost twenty years of therapeutic experience working with individuals, couples and families and children.

I believe that psychotherapy is an art that relies on a collaborative and trusting exchange of stories, beliefs, and emotions.

In our work together, I will help you to tap into your innate wisdom to create lasting change by providing a warm and empathic presence to explore your inner truths, relationships, thoughts and emotions, supporting you to let go of any limiting beliefs as we co-write new narratives.

I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals and couples through the profound journey of parenthood. I support expectant and new parents into a space where therapeutic conversations can be held to witness new experiences, make meaning of it all, and to invite healing.

My practice focuses on parents encompassing:

● Parent Wellness & Identity

● Parent Mental Health (ie- Anxiety, Depression, family, life and work stressors)

● Mindful Parenting

● Couples Therapy

I also offer Parent Coaching & Consultation Services which includes:

● Assisting parents to assess underlying causes for behavioural challenges at home and/or school

● Identifying when, how, and if you should connect with social service agencies, hospital-based support, children’s mental health providers, special-education supports, etc...

● Helping you to advocate and navigate the school and mental-health care system

● Practicing effective strategies at home based on evidence-based parenting approaches that also reflect your family’s value system

I study and draw from a number of evidence-based interventions including Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and more.

I am committed to social justice, personal growth and empowerment and work from an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens.

Jessica Warnock, RP, CCC, M.Ed Registered Psychotherapist

I bring a gentle, curious and attuned approach to my work with individuals, families and couples. I am particularly drawn to working with parents as I believe that the transition to parenthood is a profound opportunity to bring healing to one’s familial and ancestral wounding. Our children are often our greatest teachers evoking our most intense triggers, reminding us of old wounds and beliefs.

Exploring these patterns and showing up fully as parents gives our children permission to grow into their whole, authentic selves. In turn, we can become our highest self as well.

Together, we will examine patterns in your life, identify and expand your capacity to cope with the challenges you experience and deepen your relationship with self and others. I view therapy as an opportunity to evolve. My work is often focused on supporting clients to understand, experience and tolerate emotions and to shift out of behaviours, thoughts and coping that are no longer serving them.

As an integrative counsellor with experience in primary care, education, and supporting couples and families I am able to work with a range of presenting concerns. I offer evidence based therapy which is dynamic and collaborative. I have specialized training in DBT, CBT, EFT, EFFT, Mindfulness and trauma work.

I feel honoured to support my clients in expressing their authentic selves and finding relief, hope, healing, and wellbeing. Please reach out for a consultation to determine if we might be a good fit!

Alison Sellors, MSW, RSW/ Psychotherapist

I am a clinical social worker with almost twenty years of experience working with individuals, children and families.

Becoming a mother has transformed and inspired every facet of my life. It has catapulted me into unknown territory and continues to challenge me daily. Motherhood has been a catalyst for my own growth and evolution and it is from this experience that I know change is possible. I am honoured to be able to offer support to you in the midst of such a pivotal time in your own life.

I provide a caring, compassionate approach to exploring life’s challenges with you. I am guided by your inner knowing in our work together. I believe that each person has the capacity to heal already within themselves. Part of my role as your therapist is to help you uncover this ability so you can be more of who you really are.

My experience working with children and families provides a solid base from which I can offer parent consultation. I have additional training in Dr. Gordon Neufeld’s attachment-based developmental approach.

I work from a holistic framework and incorporate EMDR, Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Attachment-Based Developmental Psychology and Emotion Focused Family Therapy, among others, in my work.

It would be a privilege to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
