Description
Registered Provisional Psychologist supporting Calgary, Okotoks and surrounding areas.
My personal and professional journey offers experience in addictions, relationships, bereavement, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other areas of mental health. I obtained a degree in Addictions Counselling in 2000 and have since worked closely with substance abuse and behavioural addictions. I later went on to receive a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology to advance my competencies in working with the complexities of couple and family relationships, and efficacy in working with other mental health concerns.
I incorporate practices of dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and solution-focused practices with the intent of supporting individuals/couples/families in the development of wisdom and skill in managing challenges and adverse life circumstances.
My nonjudgmental approach and open-minded beliefs offer respect toward unique personal characteristics. From a philosophical posture, my belief is that the person is an expert in their own life. My role is that of a fellow traveler meant to walk alongside the client in their journey towards purpose, facilitating presence and mindfulness in the here and now.
