Description

Mental health must recognize individualism- within the psycho therapeutic environment, my key values include respecting and empowering individualism, and creating a safe, collaborative approach with you. You are the storyteller of your life, and my role is to further support you while you write, edit, and enhance the pages. My clients have shared that I provide a genuine and non-judgmental presence while they worked towards their therapeutic goals. You can expect a therapeutic setting that is professional, yet relaxed, and the calm atmosphere we will create together will help you explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences.

My ongoing role is to be open to and learn about the client from their words and shared experiences. My professional experience includes working with a wide range of therapeutic issues, including depression, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, cultural-specific issues, LGBTQIA+ specific issues, life transitions, interpersonal issues, and much more.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults from various backgrounds. I have worked in various positions in the mental health field, such as: Crisis Counselling, Suicide Prevention Volunteer, and Crisis Responder Volunteer. I have also been trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (Canadian Mental Health Association), Clinical Traumatology (Traumatology Institute), Emotionally Focused Therapy (Dr. Susan M. Johnson training), and Narrative Therapy. I have an active responsibility to engage in learning opportunities in order to best support my clients.

My professional experience includes working with a wide range of therapeutic issues, including: Depression, Trauma and PTSD, Anxiety, Grief/Bereavement, Emotional management, Self-esteem, Cultural-specific issues, LGBTQIA+ specific issues, Life transitions, Issues of self-identity, Work stress, Relationship with food, Women`s Issues and Interpersonal issues.

My overall approach is eclectic and I use techniques and ideas from different frameworks. Some of these frameworks include: Mindfulness-based therapies, Bereavement/Grief Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Culturally Sensitive and Multicultural Therapy, Dialectical Therapy, Compassion Focused and Interpersonal Therapy.

My main frameworks are Narrative and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My overall approach is to guide and support the client to look at the events, people, and experiences that have contributed to their story. Through understanding the history and different intersectional influences on the presented issue, the client and I will work together to process and productively find the appropriate course of action.
