Description

Welcome, I`m so glad you`re here.

I recognize that taking time out of your busy life to take care of yourself isn`t easy, but it doesn`t have to be hard either. I strive to provide a space where you feel comfortable and confident in exploring the uncomfortable emotions that you are experiencing. This is YOUR time to rediscover yourself. There is room for joy, laughter, inspiration, and insight in navigating some of life`s most painful moments. The importance of holding space for both the light and the dark sides of ourselves cannot be understated. It IS possible for these parts of ourselves to co-exist with one another in harmony.

You want to make healthier choices, but it can feel so overwhelming to know where to start. You lean on self-criticism as a motivational tool, which only leaves you feeling drained and discouraged. Perhaps youre feeling lost in navigating a sea of uncomfortable emotions and turn to quick fixes to escape the pain. You are constantly oscillating between feeling out of control or over-controlling. Cue that all too familiar cycle of irritability, guilt, and insecurity. So how can you begin to take back control?

It is my role as a therapist to help you move from self-doubt towards self-love by focusing on your unique needs. I use a holistic approach to help you better understand your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and work towards achieving a more rich and meaningful life. Our exploration will be guided by compassion to step into your most authentic self.

I am here to support you in gaining control over these big emotions instead of having them control you. I am currently accepting new clients that are ready to begin their transformative wellness journey.

About Shauna Wallace, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), CCTS-I

I’m Shauna Wallace, a holistic and trauma-informed therapist who incorporates numerous modalities in my work with clients. I am drawn to person-centred, cognitive behavioural, and dialectical behavioural approaches. Although, as an integrative therapist, I am invested in constantly learning and growing to find techniques and tools that best suit your needs.

From breathwork and meditation to increasing awareness of how your thoughts and feelings influence behaviour, I recognize the uniqueness of each client and customize my approach accordingly. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space where clients can build on their strengths with the foundation of a supportive therapeutic relationship. To me, this process is a collaborative journey to growth and discovery. I strive to help clients take full advantage of all the resources within themselves to be their best selves.

I hold a Master`s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and I have my Bachelor of Arts & Sciences from the University of Guelph with specializations in Family & Child Studies and Psychology: Brain & Cognition. I am continuing to work with a clinical supervisor as part of the Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) prerequisites through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, which requires several hours of supervised clinical practice for accreditation. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist for Individuals through Trauma Institute International.

I have experience working with individuals from diverse demographics, including young adults within a university setting, women with perinatal concerns, members of the fitness industry, individuals with various exceptionalities, and older adults within a retirement and assisted living setting, to name a few.

On a personal note, I am a seasoned group fitness instructor, particularly interested in the mind-body connection implicated in mental health. I have faced my own struggles with developing a healthy relationship with food, exercise, and body image, and recognize how important it is to take back control of your life to find a healthy equilibrium.
