Description

Regardless of the issue that brings you to therapy, we aim to establish a strong relationship of trust. We do this by providing a safe physical and emotional environment that is judgment-free, genuine and open. We have found that as we form strong connections, we are able to more rapidly gain significant personal insights, find new ways of interacting with the world, and achieve therapeutic goals. In addition to cultivating an atmosphere that is conducive to change, we use strategies from a variety of research-based therapies that are designed to accelerate change. Some areas of specialization as well as the treatment modalities that our therapists use most frequently are listed below.

Anxiety:

When anxiety gets out of control, it has a way of making your world smaller and smaller. The more time you spend on the "worry train" the worse you end up feeling. We aim to provide a safe space to explore the things that are causing you to worry and implement skills, tools and strategies for coping with worry in the moment.

Couples Counselling:

Relationships aren't easy. They take hard work, but they also take smart work. Counselling can help couples to learn how to communicate effectively and work together to improve their relationship in healthy ways. We aim to help couples rekindle the love and affection that brought them together in the first place.

Depression:

Depression can wreak havoc on your mood, motivation, sleep, relationships, and more. Therapy has been shown to be an effective method for improving depression. In many cases, therapy alone is enough to significantly improve depressive symptoms, while helping a person to gain personal insight, strength, and self-efficacy. If you are taking anti-depressants you can still benefit significantly from counselling. In fact, research suggests that the most effective treatment for depression is a combination of therapy and medication.

Chronic Pain:

Chronic pain can have a significant impact on everyday life and mental health. Therapy has been shown to be an effective method for dealing with chronic pain. Having a psychologist specially trained to help individuals cope with chronic pain can give you the tools you need to manage chronic pain more effectively.

Assessments:

If you have tried everything and nothing seems to be helping resolve your personal and psychological problems it is often a very good idea to plan to have a general psychological assessment. You do not need a referral to see a psychologist for an general assessment or counselling.
