Biography
Maria earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor in 1985 and completed her Master’s of Social Work in 2004. She is also certified in Couples Counselling and is a 7 Principles Gottman Educator. In addition to her counselling practice, Maria is a Reiki Master.
With extensive experience in both non-profit and private sectors, Maria has worked with individuals experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic stress. Her professional journey includes roles at organizations such as the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association and Catholic Family Services, as well as her private practice, PASSAGES-Pathway to Healing.
Career and Achievements
Maria is a long-standing member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She has also been recognized in Who’s Who of Canadian Women by Chatelaine Magazine and was honored with the Distinguished Social Work Service Award in 2010.
In her spare time, Maria contributes to community radio as a social work expert on the AM 800 Listener Dilemma and has served on several community boards. She remains dedicated to supporting individuals and families through compassionate and professional social work services.
