Meet Christopher:

My name is Christopher, a Calgary native and father of three. I am passionate about lifelong learning and helping the body heal itself. I practice manual osteopathy and massage therapy at two clinics and from home. I have completed a Doctorate in Osteopathy and a supervised osteopathic bridge program through NUMSS and NAO. My approach integrates advanced orthopedic techniques, muscle energy techniques, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, and osteopathic mobilization, targeting musculoskeletal imbalances and chronic pain. Alongside my wife Donna (RMT) at Infuzion Massage, I aim to create real, lasting changes in my clients’ health. I am deeply grateful to my teachers, peers, and patients, who continue to shape my skills and knowledge in this rewarding field.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathic manual therapy offers a natural, hands-on approach to managing chronic pain, improving mobility, and reducing medication use, particularly for conditions like lower back pain. Developed by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in 1874, osteopathy focuses on the body’s ability to heal itself by addressing structural dysfunctions that can lead to disease. It emphasizes the body’s interconnected systems and its self-regulating abilities, helping re-establish balance and homeostasis.

Key Principles of Osteopathy:

  1. The body is a unit—every system influences the others.
  2. The body has an innate ability to heal itself.
  3. Structure and function are interrelated.
  4. Treatment is based on these principles.

Osteopathy Models:

  • Biomechanical: Focuses on bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.
  • Fluid Respiratory: Targets the thoracic inlet/outlet, diaphragms, and the circulatory system.
  • Neurological: Works with the brain, motor/sensory nerves, and the autonomic nervous system.
  • Behavioral: Addresses psychological and social factors like anxiety, depression, and sleep issues.
  • Metabolic Energy: Supports internal organs and metabolic processes such as digestion and hormone regulation.

Benefits of Osteopathy:

  • A holistic approach to health
  • Pain relief
  • Improved mobility
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Increased confidence in the body’s ability to heal
  • Practical tools for daily health maintenance

Our osteopathic treatment aims to enhance your overall well-being, reduce reliance on medications, and prevent the need for surgery. It recognizes the link between body, mind, and spirit—all three must be strong for optimal health.

Osteopathic Treatment Techniques:

Our osteopaths use skilled palpation to understand each patient’s unique needs. Treatment includes mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, strain/counterstrain, facilitated positional release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation to facilitate healing.

Who Can Benefit from Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is suitable for anyone experiencing trauma (e.g., accidents), post-surgery recovery, childbirth-related issues, wear-and-tear injuries from sports or work, headaches/migraines, or the cumulative effects of stress and anxiety. Even those without pain can benefit from osteopathic maintenance to support overall health and wellness.
