At Make Sense Psychotherapy & Counselling, sessions are conducted via Jane, a secure and private videoconferencing platform compliant with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). You will receive a secure link for your appointment.

What to Expect:

  • Initial 15-Minute Introductory Call: Discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and explore whether we are a good fit.
  • First Session: Intake process covering your background, current life situation, goals, and an opportunity to ask questions about my approach. We will also review consent, confidentiality limits, fees, and cancellation policies.

Therapy Sessions: Your therapy time is dedicated to you. Choose your discussion topics and use this space to process what’s important. I will provide non-judgmental support and active listening.

The effectiveness of therapy depends largely on the strength of our therapeutic relationship. As we progress, reflect on how safe and trusting you feel in our sessions. Typically, sessions occur weekly, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs. Therapy is a collaborative process where both sides work to address your distress and find solutions.

Additional Aspects:

  • Experiments and Assignments: Occasionally, you may be invited to practice new skills or read material to help regulate emotions and build self-awareness between sessions.
  • Progress: Understand that progress is not always linear. You might experience fluctuations in hope and stability, which are part of the therapeutic journey.

As you gain confidence and stability, we may reduce session frequency. Ongoing support is available if desired.
