Tom Roes, MSW, RSW – Registered Social Worker
At Refuge Therapy, I offer professional psychotherapy services for children, youth, adults, couples, and families. As a Registered Social Worker in Ontario, I provide both online therapy and in-person sessions in Exeter and Stratford, Ontario. If mobility is a concern, I am also available for home visits.
Specializations: I specialize in addressing challenges and trauma related to fostering and adoption, including religious trauma. My experience as a foster and adoptive parent enriches my understanding and approach, allowing me to offer empathetic support to those navigating similar experiences. As a CIS gendered man who uses he/him pronouns, I am dedicated to providing inclusive and respectful care to clients from the 2SLGBTQI communities.
About Tom Roes: Hello! I’m Tom Roes, a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Social Work degree from King’s University College in London, Ontario. Beyond my formal education, my personal experiences as a parent of nine children—six biological and three adopted—have deeply influenced my practice. My wife and I have been foster parents with Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society since 2007, which has given me valuable insights into the child welfare system and the complexities of adoption.
My goal is to build a supportive therapeutic relationship, leveraging my experience to help you address your specific concerns and achieve your personal goals. If you choose to work with me, I am committed to tailoring our sessions to meet your needs and support your journey towards healing.
