Description
Plant-powered dietitian - specialty in anti-inflammatory diets to add life to years & years to life.
I am a registered dietitian and have been plant-powered for 10+ years. I offer nutrition counselling to individuals and families in private practice in Ontario and possibly in several other provinces when sought after. I also provide consulting dietetic services to medical clinics and hospital-based clinical trials studying impact of nutrition on health issues, such as women’s health.
I specialize in anti-inflammatory eating patterns – one of them being whole-food plant-based (WFPB) eating. Inflammation is linked to various chronic health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, auto-immune diseases (including Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis), IBS, certain cancers, and metabolic disorder. I have helped many clients appreciate the immense healing potential, tastiness and cost-effectiveness of WFPB nutrition, while being as plant-based as they choose to be. After all, plant-based eating does not need to be an all-or-nothing dietary regimen.
My clinical experience includes digestive issues, weight management (even without calorie-counting), women’s health, auto-immune diseases, as well as prevention and management of chronic illnesses, such as heart problems, diabetes, cancer and kidney failure. The patient demographics I have worked with are diverse in terms of age, ethnic background, food and health literacy, as well as dietary preference.
I speak English and Cantonese, and offer flexible consultation hours to meet my clients’ needs.
Being a strong believer in giving back, I volunteer as a dietitian for several charitable organizations to help raise food and nutrition literacy among the general population. In addition, I have been invited by the Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF), UHN (in a joint project with the CLF), and several community groups to speak about various health and nutrition topics, such as heart healthy eating, diabetes prevention and management, liver-friendly nutrition, and healthy eating for seniors.
Let me help you reach your health goals. With optimal nutrition and lifestyle choices, we can add more life to years and years to life. Feel free to call me for a free 15-minutes exploratory chat!
