The Spirit team consists of Registered Psychologists (for clients aged 4-25 years inclusive), Registered Counselling Therapists (all ages), Speech-Language Pathology (all ages, including adults), Behavior Interventionists (BCBA-Certified, EIBI-trained for ASD intervention; in-home services available) and a Learning Strategist (providing skilled, norm-referenced assessment for ages 5-25 years inclusive and execution of weekly tutoring sessions based on carefully crafted, individual learning plans.

Psychoeducational, speech-language and behavior assessments are offered with follow-up therapeutic services and are considered a central area of our practice. We currently have the shortest wait list in the Halifax Regional Municipality for these assessments.

Through our Learning Strategist, we offer the SMARTS (executive function, ADHD) and JumpMath programs (Math-specific, excellent for both skill delays and specific learning disorders affecting math). Personalized and targeted intervention for reading and writing difficulties is provided through a team approach and anchored in both the Orton-Gillingham and SpellRead philosophies.

Various specialized treatments are available through our Registered Counselling Therapists, Individual, couple and family counselling is offered through an Emotion-Focused Therapy lens. We also offer addictions-specific counselling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for individuals across the lifespan, Trauma Reintegration Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

We are proud to offer Newcomer Support through one of our Registered Counselling Therapists, Maxine Roberts. Maxine works closely with provincial and local support systems like ISANS, NSHA and HRCE to offer trauma-informed and practical support to our newest Canadians.

Spirit is dedicated to supporting persons, big or small, on their path to wellness. Our multidisciplinary approach is based on a `springboard` philosophy - that every service under our umbrella is considered for every client in order to provide comprehensive support to wellness.
