About Hala:

My name is Hala, and I’m a therapist with a passion to support those around me. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University. I’m dually registered as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) respectively.

I was born in Toronto and spent the first few years of my life there and then moved to Dubai. I had the privilege of growing up in a booming, multicultural, fast-paced city - my cup of tea. I then moved back to Canada to pursue my post-secondary education and I also made a few bicoastal moves along the way.

Philosophy:

Throughout my life, I have been keenly fascinated by the idea of human potential. I often found myself wondering how it is that some people manage to get back up when in fact everything seems to be going sideways. The bigger question for me has been “can anyone do this?”. In my role as a client, I have experienced firsthand how transformative therapy can be. My philosophy is that even though we can’t “fix” and control everything, we still certainly can live a fulfilling life. In addition to providing a space of safety and support, the therapeutic relationship can propel you to challenge your limits.

Whether you’re going through a challenging time or wanting to engage in self-development, I’m here to help you find meaning and live life on your own terms.

How I Roll:

My therapeutic work is grounded in the belief that we are all hardwired to thrive, even when life happens. This is a rather neat idea that goes by the official name of resilience. Both personally and professionally, I’m a firm believer that you can make things work, even when life gets messy. One of the things that I’m most passionate about is helping you tap into your resilience so that you can get unstuck and take charge of your life.

Having lived and studied in different parts of the world, I learned to build myself from the ground up and to adapt to new environments regardless of the conditions that I am met with. Those experiences have inspired a deep respect for, and love of diverse cultural perspectives which largely informs my therapeutic work. Supported by my background in working with children, refugees, and inmates, I have a wide range of experiences to draw on to support my clients.
