With 18 years of experience in conflict resolution, Kat Bellamnao specializes in providing comprehensive services in mediation, arbitration, and parenting coordination. Operating in private practice and offering distance services for over a decade, Kat is a seasoned dispute resolution professional and registered social worker. Her diverse practice includes training, coaching, facilitation, child interviewing, and assessments, all with a strong emphasis on relationship building and navigating differences.
Kat focuses on supporting families and groups facing complex challenges such as high conflict, trauma, mental health issues, addiction, and involvement with the legal system or intercultural dynamics. She is dedicated to creating effective solutions tailored to each situation, providing her full range of services remotely.
As an expert in conflict resolution skills, Kat designs and conducts training in trauma-informed practices, sexualized violence prevention, and family violence screening. She is a faculty member at the Justice Institute of BC in both the Centre for Conflict Resolution and the Centre for Counselling and Community Safety, as well as at Herzing College in the Kompass Professional Development Program.
Kat is a Chartered Arbitrator, Mediator, and Med-Arbitrator certified by ADR Canada. She is recognized as an Advanced Comprehensive Family Mediator by Family Mediation Canada and is a member of various professional rosters, including Mediate BC, the BC Hear the Child, and the BC Parenting Coordinator Roster Society. Additionally, she is a Qualified Parenting Coordinator in Saskatchewan.
With a Master of Social Work specializing in clinical practice, Kat’s major project focused on the impact of grief and attachment in parenting coordination. She holds a Certificate in Conflict Analysis and Management and a Certificate in Family Mediation from the Institute of Conflict Analysis and Management, emphasizing conflict in organizations and group facilitation skills.
Kat serves on the Board of the BC Parenting Coordinators Roster Society and is the Vice-President of the University of Victoria Alumni Association. She is a former board member of ADRBC and Family Mediation Canada and actively participates as a restorative justice facilitator with Restorative Justice Victoria. Kat is also a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (FDRIO).
